1 / 16Woodlands Cottage
Hook, Pembrokeshire
A detached stone cottage for four at Hook on the Cleddau Estuary, with an open fire, an enclosed lawned garden and one dog welcome, on a quiet lane by the river.
On a no-through lane at the edge of Hook, where the village runs down to the Cleddau Estuary, Woodlands Cottage is a detached stone cottage for four with beams, an open fire and one dog welcome. It is a dog friendly cottage in a setting most people never find, inside the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
The river is very close. Access to the estuary is 50 yards away, over the lane, and the banks are tidal: creeks, mudflats and gravel beds, with otters and a lot of birdlife. It is a Special Area of Conservation, so a dog is best kept close on the morning walk along the bank. Back at the cottage, the lawned garden is enclosed and has somewhere to sit, a table and a barbecue, and the kitchen's stable doors open straight onto it.
Downstairs is where the dog lives, since the owners ask that dogs stay off the first floor. That is no hardship. The living room has exposed stone, beams and the open fire, with logs included, and the separate dining room has a small sofa and a Welsh dresser and looks over the garden. Upstairs, both bedrooms look out over the garden and the tree-lined estuary, one a double, one a twin with a pull out bed. A stair gate is provided.
Llangwm, an old fishing village, is along the river, and the south Pembrokeshire coast is within reach for beach days, from Broad Haven and Little Haven to Druidston Haven below its cliffs. Carew Castle, reflected in its millpond, makes a good walk for a dog, and Tenby is a day out.

Book with cottages.comFrequently Asked Questions
Is Woodlands Cottage dog friendly?
Yes, Woodlands Cottage welcomes one dog. The cottage has an enclosed lawned garden where your dog can roam freely, and the Cleddau Estuary is just 50 yards away across the lane, offering tidal banks, mudflats and plenty of wildlife to explore.
Are dogs allowed at Woodlands Cottage year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the owners directly to confirm availability for your dates. The estuary setting and open fire make it an appealing spot whatever the season.
What should I know before visiting Woodlands Cottage with my dog?
Dogs are asked to stay downstairs — the owners provide a stair gate to help with this, and the ground floor is well set up with a comfortable living room and open fire. The estuary just across the lane is a Special Area of Conservation, so it's worth keeping your dog close on walks along the bank, particularly in the mornings when wildlife is most active.
