Pembrokeshire: Carew Castle and Riverside Walk
Pembrokeshire
Carew Castle is a romantic, multi-period fortress on a tidal creek of the River Carew, looked after by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The castle is paired with the only restored tidal mill in Wales, just across the millpond. This dog friendly circular walk takes in the castle exterior, the riverbank path along the creek, and the meadows and lanes of the surrounding estate.
The walking is easy on millpond paths, riverside meadow and quiet lanes, with one small wooded climb. Dogs are welcome in the castle grounds on a lead and along the public paths around the millpond and river. Watch for cattle and sheep in the meadow sections and keep dogs on the lead through the village. The castle has a tearoom and shop, with dog bowls outside, and the dog friendly Carew Inn just opposite is famous for fresh fish. Free parking at the castle car park.
