Pembrokeshire: Tenby to Lydstep Coastal Walk
Pembrokeshire
Tenby is the picture postcard Pembrokeshire seaside town, with its candy coloured Georgian terraces, walled medieval centre and three of the finest beaches in Wales. This dog friendly section of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs west from Tenby South Beach over the headland at Giltar Point to the dramatic limestone cove of Lydstep Haven, with views back to Caldey Island throughout.
The walking is mostly on grassy clifftop and short stretches of beach, with one steep climb up onto Giltar Point and a stepped descent to Lydstep. Dogs are welcome on the path but must be on the lead through the MoD firing range section at Penally (check red flag status before setting out). Tenby's South Beach and North Beach allow dogs all year on the southern and northern ends, with seasonal restrictions on the central sections. Lydstep Haven beach has a partial dog ban in summer. Pay and display parking at Tenby South and at Lydstep Haven, with the seasonal Coastal Cruiser bus for the return.
