Bed numbers are the easy filter on a coastal booking site. What thins a list of big seaside houses is everything that has to come with them once the dogs are on the trip: a garden the owner will put in writing as enclosed, a dog allowance stated as a number, and a beach close by that does not turn dogs away. The twelve houses below sleep between eight and eighteen, are spread over twelve counties, Fife down to the Sussex dunes, and each one gives the miles to its nearest dog beach.
All twelve appear on the Wildpack map of stays, and all of them carry a five star grading. Allowances run from two dogs to four. Several of the beaches close part of their sand to dogs between May and September, and those rules are set out under each house rather than left for the first morning. For a family gathering with more than one dog in the car, the beach rules matter as much as the bedroom count.
A La Mer, Devon

A La Mer turns the usual house upside down: the bedrooms are on the entrance floor and the open plan living space sits above them, opening through sliding doors onto a large balcony with panoramic sea views. Eight people sleep across four bedrooms, three dogs are welcome, and there are two enclosed garden spaces, one a terrace reached over a bridge where the private hot tub looks across the estuary. A hot and cold shower outside deals with sand before anybody reaches the stairs.
The nearest dog beach is Westward Ho! Beach, 2.4 miles away, and it comes with a split rule worth knowing before you go. The north end, entered through Northam Burrows, is open to dogs all year with grassland and dunes behind it, but the southern half nearer the village is off limits to dogs for the summer season, 1 May until 30 September. Park at the Burrows end in summer and the pebble ridge and the low tide sand are yours. The coast path is 100 metres from the house for the walks that do not need the car.
- Sleeps: 8
- Bedrooms: 4
- Dogs welcome: 3
- Nearest dog beach: Westward Ho! Beach, 2.4 miles
- Best for: A family of eight with three dogs who want sea views from the sofa
Casasands, Sussex

Casasands is the closest house in this guide to its sand. It sits behind the dunes at Camber about 100 metres from the beach, sleeps twelve across six bedrooms, and has a fully enclosed garden of artificial grass that the patio doors open straight onto. There is a wood burner with the first basket of logs supplied, a snug games room with a pool table, and a climbing frame and sand pit for the children.
Camber Sands is 0.4 miles on the map and a short walk over the dunes in practice, with some of the widest sand on the south east coast at low tide. Parts of the main beach are restricted for dogs in summer under the Rother PSPO, though the dune areas and outer sections are more relaxed, so check the signs before you let anyone off. The bigger catch is the allowance: twelve guests but only two dogs, which rules the house out for a gathering where several households each bring their own.
- Sleeps: 12
- Bedrooms: 6
- Dogs welcome: 2
- Nearest dog beach: Camber Sands, 0.4 miles
- Best for: A large family group sharing two dogs and wanting the beach within walking distance
Ravenslaw House, Northumberland

Nothing else here comes close to Ravenslaw for size. Built in 1892 in the style of a Scottish country house, it has nine bedrooms for eighteen guests, every one en suite, and takes four dogs. A second, Butler's, kitchen helps whoever is cooking for that many, and there are open fires in the lounge and dining room, a grand piano, and a hot tub with a four seater sauna on the sheltered patio. A gate leads through to the enclosed garden.
The drive to Alnmouth Beach is 3.4 miles, where the Aln reaches the North Sea, and dogs can run there off lead in every month of the year. The estuary channels and dune hollows give a pack of four plenty to investigate beyond the firm sand. It does mean a drive each time, though, and with eighteen people the logistics of getting everyone to the beach at once are real. Alnwick itself is an easy walk from the door for the days nobody wants to load the cars.
- Sleeps: 18
- Bedrooms: 9
- Dogs welcome: 4
- Nearest dog beach: Alnmouth Beach, 3.4 miles
- Best for: A milestone gathering of several families travelling with four dogs between them
The Pilot House - Polruan, Cornwall

The Pilot House climbs over three floors at Polruan, and the top floor holds the living room, where vast sliding doors open to a balcony over Fowey Harbour. Ten guests sleep in five super king bedrooms, one set up with accessibility in mind and a walk in wet room, and three dogs are welcome. The landscaped garden has a secure lawn, a wood fired hot tub and an outdoor shower, and the garage holds table tennis and darts.
The listed dog beach is Polkerris Beach, 2.2 miles away, a sheltered harbour cove with a pub at the waterfront. Its rule is the strictest in this guide: dogs are not permitted from Easter Day to 30 September, so Polkerris works for an autumn or winter stay only. In summer the walking has to come from the coast path instead, which runs from Polruan to Lantic Bay, and from the Hall Walk along the wooded estuary to Fowey. Three floors of stairs are also worth weighing for anyone less steady on their feet.
- Sleeps: 10
- Bedrooms: 5
- Dogs welcome: 3
- Nearest dog beach: Polkerris Beach, 2.2 miles
- Best for: An October to Easter week with three dogs and a harbour view from every floor
Stanwell Barn, Isle of Wight

Stanwell Barn is a converted barn near Bembridge inside an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, sleeping eight across four bedrooms. The open plan living space runs the length of the building under stone walls and beams, with an open fire at the lounge end and a pool table and bar billiards at the other. Three bedrooms open through French doors onto the terrace, and the patio leads to a large enclosed lawn the owner describes as safe for garden games with dogs.
Open to dogs all year, St Helens Beach lies 1.6 miles from the barn: a tidal bay of sand, mud and chalk around the old Fort Pillar, with National Trust dunes at St Helens Duver to the south. Go at low tide: the beach largely disappears at high water. The allowance is the limit to check here, since the barn takes one large dog or two no bigger than medium, by arrangement. Two big dogs will need a different house.
- Sleeps: 8
- Bedrooms: 4
- Dogs welcome: 2
- Nearest dog beach: St Helens Beach, 1.6 miles
- Best for: Two couples with one large dog or a pair of smaller ones
Llain Delyn Lodge, Anglesey

Llain Delyn Lodge is an Austrian style house above Red Wharf Bay, on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with fourteen beds across five bedrooms and five bathrooms. A separate suite at the back has its own lounge, second kitchen and family bedroom, which suits a group where grandparents want a door to close. The garden is enclosed and secure behind gates, the garage games room has a full size pool table and table football, and three dogs are welcome.
There is no hot tub, which sets it apart from most of this list. The closest listed dog beach, Traeth Lligwy, is 3.7 miles away, a sheltered sandy bay backed by low dunes that holds up at every state of the tide. Parts of it may be closed to dogs over the summer, 1 May until 30 September, so check the signage before a summer visit. Benllech's sands are nearby too, and the coast path around the island gives three dogs miles of walking.
- Sleeps: 14
- Bedrooms: 5
- Dogs welcome: 3
- Nearest dog beach: Traeth Lligwy, 3.7 miles
- Best for: Three generations who want a self contained suite for the older ones
The Retreat - Mawbray, Cumbria

Restored and graded five star, The Retreat looks from Mawbray to Skiddaw one way and across the Solway to Criffel the other. It sleeps eight in four themed bedrooms, takes two dogs, and has a wood burner in the lounge, a games room with pool and a Nintendo Switch, and a private hot tub under a pergola in the enclosed garden. An outside hot hose is provided for rinsing dogs, and the dunes at Mawbray Banks are an easy walk away.
Allonby Beach is 2.4 miles south, a vast Solway shore of sand and shingle with no reported dog restrictions in any month, and the Sandy Café on the front is dog friendly. The Solway has a large tidal range and the water comes back fast across the flats, so stay near the top of the beach on a rising tide. Inland walking is weaker, though: the nearest listed walk is 11.7 miles away, which means the shore does most of the work.
- Sleeps: 8
- Bedrooms: 4
- Dogs welcome: 2
- Nearest dog beach: Allonby Beach, 2.4 miles
- Best for: Two families who want empty sand and a hot tub at the end of the day
Tigh Sorcha, Fife

Tigh Sorcha is a renovated lodge near Leuchars with six super king bedrooms for twelve and room for four dogs. The garden is enclosed over two levels and includes an acre of enclosed land, with an orchard, an astro turf area with a net, and a sheltered hot tub on the patio. A cloakroom inside the front door is where coats come off and leads are unclipped, and a wood burner warms the main lounge.
Tentsmuir Beach is 2.5 miles away, backed by Scots pine forest, and dogs can run there off lead all year. Recall matters on this one: seals haul out on the sandbanks, deer move through the forest and birds nest in the dunes, and strong currents run offshore, so keep swimmers in the shallows. The lodge has no pub within a mile, which is the trade off for an acre of fenced ground.
- Sleeps: 12
- Bedrooms: 6
- Dogs welcome: 4
- Nearest dog beach: Tentsmuir Beach, 2.5 miles
- Best for: A group with four dogs and young children who need a large fenced garden
Y Daflod, Conwy

Y Daflod is a reimagined barn half a mile from Llannefydd, refurbished in 2019 with underfloor heating, original beams and exposed stone. It sleeps eight across four bedrooms and takes two dogs, with the owner willing to discuss a third depending on size. The lounge has a real wood burner and bi-folding doors, out on the patio are the private hot tub, a gas BBQ and an outside shower, and the games barn has table tennis.
This is countryside, not coast, and it is the furthest house here from its beach. Pensarn Beach near Abergele is 4.7 miles away, a wide sandy beach backed by the railway and the A55. A Conwy Council PSPO keeps dogs off the stretch backed by Sea Road over the summer, 1 May until 30 September, though other sections stay open. For walking nearer the barn, Bodelwyddan Country Park is 2 miles off.
- Sleeps: 8
- Bedrooms: 4
- Dogs welcome: 2
- Nearest dog beach: Pensarn Beach, 4.7 miles
- Best for: A group who would rather be in quiet farmland with the sea as a day trip
Forest Edge, Hampshire

Forest Edge is a house for twelve at Everton, renovated in 2022, with forest walks starting at the door and three dogs welcome. Inside there is a games room with a bar and a pool table, a cinema room, a playroom and a long banquet table in the kitchen, with a wood burner in a corner of armchairs. The enclosed garden has a trampoline, a heated covered seating area and its own space for the hot tub.
Milford on Sea Beach is 1.3 miles away, a long shingle and sand shore looking across the Solent to the Needles, with the spit out to Hurst Castle at its western end for a longer walk. Check the signs in summer, since parts of the beach may be restricted for dogs over the summer, 1 May until 30 September, and the shingle is harder going for small dogs than sand. Outside those months the whole shoreline is open, and the forest behind the house covers the summer mornings.
- Sleeps: 12
- Bedrooms: 5
- Dogs welcome: 3
- Nearest dog beach: Milford on Sea Beach, 1.3 miles
- Best for: A celebration weekend that wants a cinema room as well as the coast
Coastlands, Swansea

Coastlands is a detached house in Oxwich on the Gower, sleeping eight across four bedrooms with two dogs welcome. The lounge has an exposed stone fireplace and a wood burner, and out the back an enclosed garden with a lawn and a barbecue leads to a breeze house with an overhead heater for evenings outside. The garden backs onto marshland, so the dogs have wildlife to watch through the fence.
Oxwich Bay is 0.9 miles away, a sheltered bay with dunes, woodland and marsh in the nature reserve behind it, and calmer water than the Atlantic side of the Gower. Dogs are restricted on the main sections from May to September, though the reserve paths still give a good walk. The house rule is the other thing to check: the owners ask that dogs are not left alone unless crated. A crate and stair gates are available.
- Sleeps: 8
- Bedrooms: 4
- Dogs welcome: 2
- Nearest dog beach: Oxwich Bay, 0.9 miles
- Best for: A group who plan to take the dogs everywhere they go
Meadowside, Norfolk

Meadowside sits in West Runton with sea views from an upstairs bedroom, a shop, pub and restaurants within half a mile, and room for eight people and three dogs. The kitchen has an Everhot range and a table for all eight, the lounge has a flame effect fire rather than a real one, and a pool table converts for table tennis. The enclosed garden holds a large hot tub, a summer house and a gas BBQ, with a church field next door for ball games.
West Runton Beach is 0.7 miles away and open to dogs all year, which makes it a fallback when the wider Norfolk beaches have summer rules. It is a beach of sand, shingle and rock under low cliffs, with rock pools at low tide, but the rock platforms are slippery, so go at mid to low tide and watch your footing. The Norfolk Coast Path runs east to Sheringham and west to Cromer from here.
- Sleeps: 8
- Bedrooms: 4
- Dogs welcome: 3
- Nearest dog beach: West Runton Beach, 0.7 miles
- Best for: Families who want to leave the car parked for the week
Practical Advice for Booking a Big House by the Sea With Dogs
Read the dog number as a hard limit. Owners set it per booking, not per family, so twelve guests and two dogs means two dogs in total even if three households are coming. Stanwell Barn adds a size limit on top of that, and Y Daflod will only discuss a third dog in advance.
Check the beach calendar against your dates. Eight of the twelve nearest beaches have some kind of summer restriction, from a single zone at Pensarn to Polkerris, which bans dogs between Easter Day and 30 September. Allonby, Alnmouth, St Helens, Tentsmuir and West Runton are open all year.
Think about who sleeps where. Big houses often split their bedrooms across floors, and A La Mer, The Pilot House and Ravenslaw all involve stairs between the living space and some of the beds. Llain Delyn's separate suite and the ground floor bedrooms at Stanwell Barn and Ravenslaw are the ones to book if anyone in the group finds stairs difficult.
Ask about the hot tub before you assume. Four of these houses, Casasands, Stanwell Barn, Llain Delyn Lodge and Coastlands, do not have one.

Final Thoughts
For the biggest groups the choice is short. Ravenslaw takes eighteen people and four dogs, and Tigh Sorcha takes twelve and four with an acre of fenced ground, so those are the two for a gathering where several households bring dogs. Llain Delyn suits three generations, and Casasands suits a big family that wants to walk to the sand but only has two dogs.
For everyone else, the deciding factor should be the season. Book Polkerris country, Oxwich or Camber for summer and the rules will shape your walks. Book Alnmouth, Allonby, Tentsmuir, St Helens or West Runton and the beach is open to dogs every day of the year.
