Eddrachilles Hotel

Scourie, Highland

Yes. Dogs can stay in 5 dog friendly rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.

A former manse on Badcall Bay near Scourie, where dogs have a warm-water washing station, a welcome pack and, if well behaved, a breakfast sausage.

Paths run from the grounds of Eddrachilles Hotel straight to the shore of Badcall Bay, near Scourie in Sutherland. Built in the 1800s as a Church of Scotland minister's home, it is now an owner-run dog friendly hotel with ten rooms and three Good Hotel Guide Editor's Choice awards as a Dog-Friendly Hotel.

Five of the ten rooms are dog friendly, and the hotel asks you to get in touch before booking so it can allocate the right one. Two medium-sized dogs per room is the recommended maximum, so ask if yours are larger or there are more of them. The Very Important Paws service brings a placemat and bowls in the room, a dog bed or bedding on request, a welcome pack and a foil-wrapped sausage at breakfast for every well-behaved dog. After the beach there is a warm-water washing station with shampoo, and dog towels wait at the entrances.

Dogs are welcome in the designated dining areas at breakfast and dinner, in the part of The Glebe Kitchen that was once the manse kitchen, and for dinner you book the dog friendly dining option online. The Glebe Kitchen holds one AA Rosette and sits within the stone walls of that original kitchen, looking west over the cottage garden. Its set menu changes in full at least twice a week, including Scotch beef, Highland venison and, at times, crab from Badcall Bay, and the bar keeps over 60 malt whiskies.

Walks start from the door, among them a quiet bay-side walk that suits a stroll before or after dinner, and Reception has the hotel's own walk maps. For a day out with your dog, Handa Island Ferry Walk is 3.4 miles away on Wildpack.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
