Fawsley Hall Hotel & Spa

Daventry, West Northamptonshire

Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.

An historic estate near Daventry with Capability Brown parkland, where rooms kept for dogs have easy access to the grounds and a lake to circuit.

Capability Brown laid out the formal gardens and parkland at Fawsley Hall in the 1760s, and Queen Elizabeth I was among the guests drawn here over the centuries. Tucked away in the Northamptonshire countryside, the estate is now a dog friendly hotel with 60 bedrooms, its grounds, gardens and woodlands there for you and your dog to enjoy together.

A room can sleep up to two dogs, and the selection of rooms kept for dogs has easy access to the grounds, so a late night call of nature is quickly answered. On arrival your dog finds a comfy bed and cushion, a bowl and some snacks in the room. Around the public areas of the house your dog stays on a lead and on good behaviour, and you're asked to pick up after yours across the grounds, gardens and woodlands.

Under the Hand Picked Hotels group's dog policy dogs aren't permitted in its restaurants, and whether the Great Hall or the Conservatory is open to them Fawsley Hall doesn't say, so ask where your dog may sit before you plan a meal. Afternoon tea is homemade and traditional, served in the Tudor Great Hall, with its high ceilings and full-length windows over the estate, or in the bright Conservatory. The Cedar Restaurant holds three Rosettes, in an intimate room built in the early 16th century with a beamed ceiling, exposed brickwork and a stone fireplace.

The spa is housed in the original lodge, with a Himalayan Salt Sauna, an open-air hydro pool and a 17-metre indoor pool, and it carries the Good Spa Guide's 5 Bubble Spa Award. Your dog's walking starts on the estate itself, which has a lake to circuit, and Badby Woods and Fawsley, which Wildpack lists among its walks, lies 1.3 miles from Fawsley Hall.
