Directly opposite the Royal Shakespeare Company theatres, The Arden Hotel sits on the Waterside in the heart of historic Stratford-upon-Avon, with views of the River Avon and riverside walks on its doorstep. It is a contemporary boutique hotel of 45 bedrooms and suites, and a dog friendly hotel that makes a fuss of its canine guests from the start.

A selection of rooms take dogs, and each canine guest is given a doggy bag of treats and a toy, a dog bed and bowls for the stay, and a breakfast sausage of its own. The house rules ask that dogs are well behaved, and they are the full responsibility of their owners. The Arden doesn't state a per-room limit on dogs, so check with the hotel when you book.

The lounges are open to dogs, and you can eat there together from the snack menu, and in the back area of the No44 Brasserie. The brasserie holds two AA Rosettes, with menus built on carefully selected British ingredients, familiar favourites and Sunday roasts, and it is a natural stop for pre-theatre dining before a performance across the road. Afternoon tea is served too, for residents and non-residents alike.

The rooms combine contemporary design with timeless luxury, and The Arden is a 4 AA Silver Star hotel. Walks start straight from the hotel for you and your dog, and Wildpack's map has the Stratford Greenway at 0.6 miles and Welcombe Hills and Clopton Park at 1.8 miles.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
