1 / 8The Bell Inn
Rickinghall, Suffolk
Yes. Dogs can stay overnight.
A former 17th century coaching inn in Rickinghall, North Suffolk, with a dog friendly bar, dog treats and beers, and a station for muddy paws.
The Bell Inn began life as a 17th century coaching inn and is now a country inn in the peaceful village of Rickinghall, in North Suffolk, full of history and period features. It won Pub of the Year 2024 at the Velvet Food & Drink Awards, and this dog friendly inn is proud to offer a dog friendly bar area and accommodation, so four-legged friends come too.
Dogs are welcome to stay overnight. The inn has eight woodland themed bedrooms on the first floor, from The Owl, a spacious king above the bar with original features, to The Hedgehog in the newer part, with a bath. A new dog cleaning station is there for muddy paws after a countryside walk. The Bell doesn't state which of its rooms take dogs or how many may share, so cover that when you call to book.
Downstairs, the bar is dog friendly, with local guest ales, craft lagers, a gin shelf, board games and cosy corners, and there are treats and even dog beers for your four-legged friend while you enjoy a drink. Dogs are asked to stay on their lead at all times. The Bell doesn't say if a dog may come into the a la carte restaurant with you, so ask about a table there; the kitchen works with local farmers and producers, and breakfast is served seven days a week.
A coffee morning with homemade cake runs every Wednesday, and children have a playground and sandpit outside. The Bell sits just off the A143 between Bury St. Edmunds and Diss, and Knettishall Heath Breckland Circuit, from Wildpack's walks, is 4.1 miles from Rickinghall for a good long walk with the dog.
