The Douglas Hotel

Brodick, North Ayrshire

Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.

A hotel by the Brodick ferry terminal on Arran, where dogs keep you company over food in the bar and at breakfast in the Bistro's dog friendly area.

Steps from the Brodick ferry terminal, The Douglas Hotel is the focal point of the village and a base for exploring the Isle of Arran with no car needed. Its ground floor and first floor rooms are pet friendly, making The Douglas a dog friendly hotel you can walk to straight off the boat, ready to enjoy the island's walks together.

A pet friendly room can take a pair of dogs at most. Add yours to the reservation when you book online and the team will allocate a dog friendly room, subject to availability. Bring your dog's own bedding, as none is provided. Dogs stay on leads in the grounds and public areas, muddy paws get a wipe before they meet the carpets, and beds and other furniture are off limits. The hotel also asks that dogs stay quiet so other guests can relax, and doggy bins are provided.

The Douglas Bar is dog friendly with no need to book, and food is served there from noon until 8.30pm daily, from home baking and sharing platters to an extensive menu. At breakfast the Bistro has a dog friendly area, though it is strictly pet-free in the evening, and breakfast needs pre-booking with reception. The kitchen sources sustainable local fish and shellfish, Arran and Ayrshire lamb, beef and venison, with Wooley's oatcakes and Arran Dairies ice cream from the island's cottage producers.

The rooms are hugely proportioned, with high ceilings and picture windows, and the Goatfell Suite and Balcony Suite look out over Brodick Bay and Goat Fell. With your dog, Wildpack's map has Isle of Arran: Brodick to Lamlash Coastal Path 0.6 miles from the hotel and Isle of Arran: Goatfell Summit Walk 1.4 miles off, for a bigger day out.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
