1 / 8The Hoste
Burnham Market, Norfolk
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.
Burnham Market's 17th-century coaching inn, where dogs are greeted with a hamper of treats and a bed or blanket, and the coast is ten minutes away.
Burnham Market's coaching inn has stood at the centre of the community since the 17th century, with a historic pub, a restaurant and 47 individually designed bedrooms upstairs, in the courtyard and across the green in Vine House. It is a dog friendly inn ten minutes from the North Norfolk coast, and one that calls itself famously family and dog friendly, so the dog counts as one of the party.
Dogs stay in the dog friendly rooms of The Hoste Arms, up to two per room; the eight rooms in Vine House are adults-only and dog-free. Your dog's VIP welcome is a doggy hamper full of treats, plus a bowl and either a bed or a blanket, and you're welcome to bring its own bed from home. The house rules are few: dogs stay on a lead in all shared areas, they are never left unsupervised, and dogs are not to sleep on beds and soft furnishings.
Dinner doesn't mean leaving the dog behind, since the inn keeps dog friendly sections for eating together. The menus draw on local suppliers, combining land and sea from breakfast through to dinner, with day boat fish that depends on what local fishermen have caught and salmon from Brancaster. At the bar there are hand-picked wines, local beers, cask ales and cocktails, and Sundays bring roasts with Yorkies and plenty of gravy.
Some bedrooms have a free-standing rolltop bath, and all come with an honesty bar stocked with treats and tipples. When the dog wants sand, Burnham Overy Staithe Beach, which Wildpack places 1.4 miles off, ranks as our nearest dog friendly shore, while our Brancaster Staithe to Burnham Deepdale Coastal Walk lies 2.7 miles off.
