1 / 8The Kings Arms and Royal Hotel
Godalming, Surrey
Yes. Dogs can stay overnight, up to 2 dogs per room.
A 14th century hotel on the high street in Godalming, with 21 boutique rooms, the Bar open to dogs and pet friendly tables to book.
The Kings Arms and Royal stands at the very heart of Godalming on the high street, dating back to the 14th century, with a Georgian facade added in 1753 and 21 boutique rooms behind it. The dog friendly hotel side of it is uncomplicated: up to a maximum of two dogs, the Bar open to them, and a pet friendly table when you want to eat properly.
The hotel asks you to call directly, or leave a note on the booking, for a dog specific room or table. Premium rooms keep to premium linens, soft pillows and comfortable mattresses, and the Deluxe Suite is the largest, with a seating area to spread into. The hotel doesn't say which bedrooms the dogs go in, and nor does it mention one left alone there, so settle both on that call.
Dogs are also welcome in the Bar, which is the relaxed end of the place, and a pet friendly table is the thing to select when you book a meal. The kitchen runs through the day on Modern British plates, local producers and sweets that feast the eyes, and the drinks list is local brews, wines chosen for taste and cocktails.
Godalming sits by the River Wey, timber framed buildings and market town manners, and the hotel sits at the heart of it. Afternoon tea is the indulgence to book. Pewley Down and Guildford Viewpoints, a Wildpack walk, is 3.7 miles out, which is where the dog gets its day.
Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
