1 / 8The White Buck
Burley, Hampshire
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.
A former country house in Burley, in the New Forest, where your dog gets a sausage at breakfast and a dog friendly table in the bar or garden.
The story goes that a white fallow deer buck in the forest gave The White Buck its name, back when a grand country house in Burley was being turned into a hotel. Today it is a pub with a restaurant and twenty bedrooms. The forest still surrounds it, so this dog friendly inn puts the New Forest on every side of you and your dog.
Selected rooms welcome pets, never more than two dogs to a room, and every dog booked in comes with the VIPup extras: a pamper package for paws, and their own breakfast sausage. In the hotel and the garden, keep dogs on a lead. When you're out of the hotel, don't leave your dog alone in the room. As a former country house, the inn has some indulgent rooms, and the Indulgence rooms bring 6-foot beds, bathrobes and plenty of space to settle in.
When you reserve a table, ask for a dog friendly one. The bar and the garden are both open to dogs at the table; the main dining areas don't take dogs. The food is home-cooked from the freshest ingredients and prepared to order by the chefs, with refined pub classics on the menu and a hearty breakfast to start the day.
The White Buck holds a Green Tourism Gold Award, and Burley is known for its association with witches. On Wildpack's map it's 0.9 miles to Burley Village Circular and 2.1 miles to Wilverley Inclosure Walk, both walks to share with your dog.
