Birchbank Loch View Lodge

Garelochhead, Argyll and Bute

A one bedroom lodge for two above Garelochhead with sea loch views from the deck, an enclosed garden and balcony, one large and one smaller dog welcome.

Birchbank Loch View Lodge earns every part of its name: a timber lodge on a broad deck above Garelochhead, with sea loch views running out towards Loch Goil and Loch Long. It sleeps two with one large and one smaller dog welcome, an enclosed garden and balcony outside, and dog friendly simplicity as the whole offer.

Inside is one open plan room done well: a big sofa and Smart TV, a compact two ring kitchen for holiday cooking rather than banquets, a dining spot by the French doors, and the double bed set against the view. The shower room completes it, and the deck, with its seating and charcoal BBQ, doubles the living space whenever the dogs insist on outdoors.

It is a two person rhythm: coffee on the deck, a loch shore or forest trail with the dogs, the village for anything forgotten, and the evening spent back on the balcony while the light works down the water. Trains run from Garelochhead when Glasgow calls, which it mostly will not.

The Arrochar Alps stand close for the proper hill days, The Cobbler chief among them, Loch Lomond's shore and Ben Lomond sit across the peninsula, and the Rosneath villages and the Kilcreggan ferry fill the pottering days. Two dogs and a fortnight would not exhaust the trails within sight of the deck.
