Beinn Narnain from Succoth

Stirling

Dog Friendly Rating:6/10A rocky Munro in the Arrochar Alps with steep terrain and some scrambling, best suited to experienced hill dogs kept on lead for livestock.

Beinn Narnain is a rugged dog friendly Munro rising to 926 metres in the Arrochar Alps, offering fine views across Loch Long and the surrounding peaks. Starting from the Succoth car park, the route climbs steeply through forest before reaching open hillside with increasingly rocky terrain and several false summits that add to the challenge.

Dogs should be kept on lead through the lower slopes where sheep may be present. The upper mountain is very rocky with some light scrambling, so it suits fit and experienced hill dogs rather than beginners. The Succoth car park is pay and display (around nine pounds for a full day). There are no facilities on the mountain; the nearest services are in Arrochar village. The path can be boggy in the lower sections after rain, and the summit ridge is exposed in poor weather.
