Three dogs are welcome at Henmarsh Cottage, a cosy character cottage carefully converted from an old barn in the unspoilt village of Barton-on-the-Heath. A bridle path runs alongside the cottage and leads into miles of open countryside, and Moreton-in-Marsh is a five minute drive away, so this dog friendly cottage puts open country right beside the door.
Large French doors in the sitting room open onto a sheltered sun terrace and a garden that is fully enclosed; in the owner's words, that makes it suitable for dogs and children. There is quality furniture out there, a BBQ on request and views over the fields, so the first coffee of the morning and the last glass of the evening both happen outside with the dogs sprawled on the terrace.
Back inside, the sitting room is cosy, with a wood burning stove to curl up beside with an interesting book, or a film on the TV once the dogs have settled. Hidcote and Batsford Arboretum are lovely gardens to visit, the villages of Bourton-on-the-Water and the Slaughters are an easy drive, the Cotswold towns of Burford, Chipping Norton and Stow add antique shops and pubs, and the famous Daylesford Organic farm shop is within an easy drive too.
