One small dog is welcome at The Barley Store, and it gets a lawn of its own. The barn is one of the Honies Farm Barns at East Stoke, a few miles south of Newark, a set of old farm buildings restored with their original features kept, and it makes a dog friendly base for two to four people and their dog.

Nothing is upstairs, because there is no upstairs. French doors lead from the open plan living area to the patio, the kingsize bedroom has a walk-in shower of its own, the twin sits alongside, and there is a family bathroom as well. Underfloor heating runs throughout, fed by a ground source heat pump, and a small dog stretched on a warm floor is not a bad image for a stay here.

There are three kinds of outdoor space, and it is worth knowing which is which. The lawned garden at the rear is enclosed and has its own patio, and that is where the dog goes out. At the front there is a separate sitting-out area with furniture, which is not described as enclosed, and the courtyard between the barns is shared with the other properties on site. The barns look out over open fields, and in the evening the rear patio is the place to watch the light go with the dog at your feet.

Around the farm there are miles of country walks and quiet lanes for cycling, and the pub at Farndon sits on the bank of the Trent, where cruisers go past. Newark and its castle are a short drive, and the Belvoir and Belton estates are both within reach for a longer outing with the dog.

We research every description carefully and believe it to be accurate, but details can change. Please confirm anything important, especially dog rules, with the booking agent or property owner before you book.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Honies Farm Barns - The Barley Store dog friendly?

Yes, The Barley Store welcomes one small dog. The barn has an enclosed lawned rear garden that's set aside specifically for your dog, along with a private patio — a lovely spot to wind down together at the end of the day.

  • Are dogs allowed at Honies Farm Barns - The Barley Store year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. The underfloor heating throughout the barn does make it a particularly appealing base in the cooler months.

  • What should I know before visiting Honies Farm Barns - The Barley Store with my dog?

The property accepts one small dog, so it's not the right fit for larger breeds or multiple dogs. It's also useful to know that while the rear lawned garden is enclosed and dog-friendly, the front sitting area and the shared courtyard between the barns are not described as enclosed, so you'll want to keep that in mind when moving around the wider site.
