Dog friendly and three-pawprint rated by the National Trust, Belton Park is one of the best estate walks in the east Midlands, a patchwork of ancient deer park, River Witham riverside and open sheep-grazed grassland. The marked circular picks out key landmarks including the remains of a deserted medieval village and the gothic Bellmount Tower, with the house itself drifting in and out of view across the parkland.
Dogs must be on lead at all times because of the free-roaming fallow deer and grazing sheep, but the estate is set up thoughtfully for owners with clearly signposted dog zones, dog-friendly indoor seating and water points.
