Johns Cottage is a gorgeous traditional Lakeland cottage in the heart of Keswick, and the northern edge of Derwentwater is just half a mile away, close enough for a lakeside stroll with the dogs before breakfast. Sleeping four with two dogs, this dog friendly cottage is laid out on reverse levels, with exposed timber beams and plenty of character.
Through a characterful archway, the light, tastefully decorated cottage opens into a spacious, stylish kitchen and diner with a beautiful tiled floor, the dining table set between dual aspect windows. The ground floor also holds a bright and cheerful sun room, the place to curl up with a good book in the evening while the dogs doze nearby, a charming twin room, which can be made up as a king-size, and a family bathroom.
Upstairs, the cosy lounge has a vaulted ceiling, wooden beams, quirky features and soft furnishings, with its wood burner effect electric fire and TV for a favourite film at the end of a fabulous day. A restful double and a shower room share that floor. Outside, the charming enclosed patio garden has plenty of seating, a delightful spot for evening drinks al fresco with the dogs settled at your feet.
Keswick is full of art galleries, restaurants and pubs, with the historic Alhambra Cinema just across the road, the Theatre by the Lake and the Derwent Pencil Museum. Derwentwater has canoeing, boat trips and peaceful lakeside strolls for two dogs, and keener walkers can head for the fells of Latrigg, Skiddaw and Blencathra. The ancient Castlerigg Stone Circle is 2 miles away, and Buttermere and Crummock Water are a little further afield.
