This dog friendly retreat is full of period character, with open fires, four poster beds, a spiral staircase and a fabulous games room, all beautifully decorated with unique and antique furnishings, and it sleeps thirteen in seven bedrooms.
The spacious reception hall leads to the grand dining room, with splendid dining tables and an open fire for the whole party to gather by. The cosy, strikingly decorated lounge has a second open fire, a Smart TV and French doors leading to the garden and south terrace, and it is where four dogs will stretch out once the day is done. The games room keeps a roulette table, chess and a mini snooker and pool table.
Downstairs, the fully equipped kitchen, with its range cooker, leads through to a charming breakfast room. The spiral staircase climbs to two four poster doubles with Jack and Jill en suites and a pretty single on the first floor, and on to the four second floor bedrooms, all with enchanting views, beside a family bathroom. Outside, the enclosed garden has seating areas for dining al fresco and the grounds hold woodland to explore. The dogs are always part of the party, as they must not be left in the castle on their own.
Kintyre is known for its white sandy beaches, wildlife and whisky, and the beach is 5 miles from the door. The Kintyre Way is there for walking with the dogs, Machrihanish has its renowned golf course, Westport Beach is one of Scotland's best surfing spots, and boat trips run out to Gigha, Arran, Islay and Jura.
