Southend Beach
Argyll and Bute
Southend Beach is a sandy beach at the southern tip of Kintyre, adjacent to the village of Southend and the site of Dunaverty, a rock fortress with a dramatic history. The beach overlooks the Mull of Kintyre and on very clear days provides views to Ireland. The Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse is a short drive or walk away. The area is rich in early Scottish Christian history, with St Columba's Footprints carved in rock near the beach.
No dog restrictions. Year-round dog access. The beach connects with Dunaverty Bay and the walking is excellent in both directions.
