Three dogs, no charge for any of them, and not a single stair. Lavender Barn is a dog friendly barn at Heacham on the west Norfolk coast, sleeping four in two bedrooms with two bathrooms, and everything in it is on the ground floor.

The main room goes up to a high vaulted ceiling with the beams left bare, and large windows fill it with light. Kitchen, dining table and living area share the space, with French doors from the sitting end onto the patio, and the floor is heated underneath, so three dogs spread out across it after a morning on the sand and nobody moves them. There is a breakfast bar, an air fryer and a coffee machine, and a table for six.

Outside, the garden wraps round the barn and is enclosed at the back, where the patio and its chairs and table sit, and the dogs can be let out of the French doors without a second thought. It catches the light for most of the day. The kingsize bedroom has its own walk-in shower, and the twin uses the main bathroom, where there is a bath as well as a shower, so it suits two couples, or a couple with grown children, and three dogs.

Heacham Manor's golf course is close by, and the village runs down to the shore of the Wash. Hunstanton's south beach is 0.9 miles away, a long stretch of sand, and north of the town the coast turns the corner towards Old Hunstanton, Thornham, Titchwell and Brancaster, one wide beach after another for three dogs to work through across a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Lavender Barn dog friendly?

Lavender Barn is very much built around dogs — up to three are welcome, and there's no charge for any of them. The barn is single storey throughout, so there are no stairs to navigate, the garden is enclosed at the back so dogs can be let out freely, and the underfloor heating in the main living space makes it a natural spot for them to settle after a beach walk.

  • Are dogs allowed at Lavender Barn year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, and nothing in the property details suggests any. If year-round availability matters to your plans, it's worth confirming directly with the host when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Lavender Barn with my dog?

The property welcomes up to three dogs at no extra charge, and the enclosed rear garden means you can let them out from the French doors without worrying about them wandering. Hunstanton's south beach is less than a mile away, and the coast stretching north towards Thornham and Brancaster offers a string of wide sandy beaches — plenty to keep even three dogs well exercised across a stay.
