Moor Farm Cottage

Reighton Gap, East Yorkshire

A six bedroom farmhouse for twelve at Reighton Gap on the Yorkshire coast, with a large enclosed garden, a games room and a path down to the sand, four dogs welcome.

Book now

Four dogs are down the path and onto the sand at Reighton before the last bag is out of the car. Moor Farm Cottage sits at Reighton Gap with a large enclosed garden at the back of it and the beach at the end of that path, dog friendly on a scale almost nothing else here manages: six bedrooms, twelve people, and four dogs on one booking.

Inside, the party stops treading on each other. A wide hall with a coat cupboard opens into a kitchen and dining room built for cooking at scale, and a games room sits off the entrance with a pool table and old consoles in it. The living room has a multi fuel burner and French doors to the garden, which is where four dogs will spend the evening going in and out.

Two families travelling together, each with animals, are what this one is really for. Four dogs on a single booking is rare at any size of house, and a garden this big to put them in is rarer still, decked at one end with furniture and a fire pit on it. There are donkeys and pygmy goats on the small site next door, so leads go on at the gate.

The path from the garden drops to Reighton Sands, a long open beach under low cliffs where the sand runs north in one unbroken sweep along Filey Bay. Filey is 5 miles up the coast with a harbour, a promenade and somewhere to eat at the end of a walk. Dogs keep the run of most of this shore the year through, and the southern end of it sees very few people.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Moor Farm Cottage dog friendly?

Moor Farm Cottage welcomes up to four dogs on a single booking, which is genuinely rare for a property of any size. The house has a large enclosed garden where dogs can roam freely, and a path leading directly from the garden down to Reighton Sands.

  • Are dogs allowed at Moor Farm Cottage year round?

Reighton Sands is dog friendly throughout the year, with dogs having the run of most of the shore across all seasons. The southern end of the beach tends to be quieter, making it a particularly good stretch for letting dogs off the lead.

  • What should I know before visiting Moor Farm Cottage with my dog?

There are donkeys and pygmy goats on the small site next door to the cottage, so you'll need to put leads on at the garden gate before heading out. Beyond that, the setup is well suited to dogs — there's a big enclosed garden, direct beach access, and Filey is around 5 miles up the coast if you fancy a longer walk with somewhere to eat at the end.
