Directly opposite Pine Tree Cottage, a path sets off for Glen beach, which is pet friendly and lies between Saundersfoot harbour and Monkstone Point. This dog friendly cottage in Saundersfoot sleeps eight with two dogs, and since its refurbishment in 2017 it has mixed plenty of character with a contemporary interior.

Exposed stone walls greet you in the hallway, and the character lounge has a wood burner and views out towards the woods and the sea beyond. There is a TV with DVD, a Geneva Bluetooth speaker with CD player and an Xbox 360 for the younger ones, and with a fire crackling in the wood burner, the pair of dogs soon curl up within reach of its glow. The beautiful kitchen/diner is well equipped, down to a lo-fi CD player and radio for whoever is cooking.

The bedrooms lead off the first floor landing: a double with a glimpse of the sea, a second double with a sea view, a twin with views over the garden and a bunk room with full size single beds. The first floor also has its bathroom and a separate shower room. Back downstairs, French doors open from the dining area to the neat enclosed garden with its furniture, and after a morning at Glen beach it is the first place the dogs go.

Saundersfoot village can be reached on foot, and the coastal path runs right through it, ideal for walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and their dogs. Tenby, Folly Farm, Manor Wildlife Park and Heatherton are all within a short drive for the family, and Manorbier, Carew and Pembroke all have castles open to the public.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Pine Tree Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Pine Tree Cottage welcomes dogs — up to two on a booking. The cottage has an enclosed garden with outdoor furniture, and the path to a dog-friendly beach starts directly opposite the front door.

  • Are dogs allowed at Pine Tree Cottage year round?

Yes, and so is the beach it leads to. Glen Beach, a short walk through the trees from the cottage, allows dogs all year round, so there are no seasonal restrictions to plan around.

  • What should I know before visiting Pine Tree Cottage with my dog?

Dogs need to stay on the lead until you reach the bottom of the path opposite the front door — the lead comes off there, not before. The French doors at the back of the kitchen open straight onto the enclosed garden, which is the practical entrance for two dogs coming in wet from the beach or the woods.
