Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Tenby South Beach dog friendly?

Tenby South Beach is partially dog friendly, earning a 6/10 on our dog-friendly rating. A seasonal restriction applies from 1 May to 30 September, when the main bathing area is designated dog-free — but dogs are welcome in sections of the beach outside that zone throughout the year.

  • Are dogs allowed at Tenby South Beach year round?

Yes, though with some seasonal limitations. From 1 October to 30 April the full beach is open to dogs, while from 1 May to 30 September a partial ban covers the main bathing area. Outside the restricted zone, you can still enjoy the beach with your dog even during the summer months.

  • What should I know before visiting Tenby South Beach with my dog?

It's worth checking the time of year before you go — the seasonal dog ban on the main bathing area runs from 1 May to 30 September, so plan to use the sections outside the restricted zone if visiting in summer. The beach is long and wide, stretching toward Penally, so there's a decent walk to be had. Cafes at the south end of the beach and public toilets are nearby, and car parks are available at the South Beach end of Tenby and in the town centre.
