Amroth is where the Pembrokeshire Coast Path begins, and Clam Cottage sits a short walk from the sand at the start of it. It is a detached stone barn restored for two, dog friendly, with a galleried bedroom under exposed beams and two dogs welcome, and the owners, who live next door, do not charge for them.

Downstairs is one open room of old stone walls and new kitchen, with a walk-in shower off it. The bedroom is a gallery above, reached by stairs and open to the room below, with a king size bed beneath the roof timbers. The owners leave a welcome pack for the people and treats for the dogs, and guests who come back tend to mention both.

Outside there is a private lawn with a fence round it and a patio at the back that catches the evening, with a barbecue and a bird feeder that two dogs will supervise closely. Beyond that the arrangement is simple. Walk down into the village, along the beach, back up to the garden, and let the dogs sleep it off on the lawn while the kettle goes on.

Amroth's beach is a long run of sand at low tide, and the coast path climbs away west from it over the headlands to Wiseman's Bridge and Saundersfoot, with Tenby and its harbour beyond. Boats run from Tenby to Caldey Island, and seal-watching trips go out along the cliffs. For a couple and two dogs, this is about as close to the start of the path as it is possible to sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Clam Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Clam Cottage welcomes up to two dogs, and the owners don't charge extra for them. They even leave treats in the welcome pack, which returning guests tend to mention alongside the welcome pack for their owners.

  • Are dogs allowed at Clam Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and with a private enclosed lawn and direct access to Amroth beach and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path on the doorstep, it's well set up for year-round visits. It's always worth confirming directly with the owners if you're planning an off-season trip.

  • What should I know before visiting Clam Cottage with my dog?

The cottage takes a maximum of two dogs, and there's no additional charge for bringing them. The garden is enclosed with a fence, so there's a safe space to let them unwind after a walk, and Amroth beach and the coast path to Saundersfoot and Tenby are within easy reach on foot. The galleried bedroom is open to the room below via stairs, so it's worth considering whether that layout suits your dogs before booking.
