Book now

Just outside Llanfairtalhaiarn, in farmland above the Elwy valley, Pyllau Gleision looks out across rolling green hills. This dog friendly cottage sleeps four and has room for two dogs, a welcome pack and some doggy extras, fuel for the wood burner included, and a games room in a separate outhouse.

Downstairs is a living room with the wood burner and a sofa bed, a kitchen and dining room with patio doors out to the garden, and a shower room. Up a steep staircase, where older dogs may prefer not to follow, are the bedrooms, one king size and one with two singles. The heating is solar powered and the washing machine lives in the garage, well away from the living room.

The outhouse is the surprise. It has been fitted out as a games room, pool table and board games included, the place a family retreats to after supper while the dogs doze by the fire. The back garden is enclosed, with seating and a gas barbecue, and it is where the dogs can be let off. This is sheep country, so beyond the garden the owners ask for dogs on a lead at all times.

Llanfairtalhaiarn is a short walk away, an old village on the banks of the River Elwy with an 18th century bridge, Pont Fawr, and riverside paths where a lead keeps the dogs out of the water. The beaches at Pensarn and Abergele are a short drive north, Gwrych Castle is nearby, and Conwy with its walls and castle makes a good day out.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Pyllau Gleision dog friendly?

Yes, Pyllau Gleision is dog friendly and welcomes up to two dogs. There's an enclosed back garden where dogs can be let off the lead, plus a welcome pack with some doggy extras to help you settle in.

  • Are dogs allowed at Pyllau Gleision year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it appears they're welcome throughout the year. It's always worth confirming directly with the owners if you're planning a visit at an unusual time.

  • What should I know before visiting Pyllau Gleision with my dog?

The cottage is set in sheep farming country, so the owners ask that dogs are kept on a lead at all times beyond the enclosed back garden. It's also worth knowing that the bedrooms are up a steep staircase, which older or less mobile dogs may find tricky to manage.
