1 / 24South Crescent
Filey, North Yorkshire
A cliff top house for four in Filey with a gated front garden, a porch full of boot racks and beach games, and a bathroom on the ground floor, two dogs welcome.
Filey never turned into a resort. What it has instead is a horseshoe of sand, a wooded ravine of gardens dropping to it, and a line of tall houses along the cliff top. South Crescent is one of those houses, dog friendly for four with room for two dogs, and a gate and an enclosed garden come before the front door does.
Inside that door is a porch with a boot rack and a box of beach games in it, which tells you what the house is for. The hallway passes a lounge where a gas fire sits under a bay window, then a kitchen and diner with a breakfast bar, and ends at a bathroom on the ground floor. That last one earns its place: a sandy dog is dealt with before anybody goes upstairs.
Two people and two dogs will find this exactly the right size, and four manage easily. The double at the front takes the bay window with the sea in it and keeps a shower room of its own, while the second bedroom is a twin that becomes a king if asked. Behind the house the garden is walled and gated with a patio and somewhere to cook outside, so a dog goes out at eleven at night without anybody finding shoes.
Half a mile downhill the bay begins, one long curve of sand running south. Behind the house the Glen drops through trees and planted gardens, a boating lake at the bottom. On the cliff top above town a country park keeps a nature trail with the whole bay underneath, and a dog gets sand, gardens and cliff in a morning without the car moving.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is South Crescent dog friendly?
Yes, South Crescent welcomes up to two dogs. The house has been set up with dogs firmly in mind — there's a gated front garden before you even reach the front door, and a fully enclosed walled garden at the back where dogs can head out late at night without anyone needing to find their shoes.
Are dogs allowed at South Crescent year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and nothing in the property details suggests otherwise. If you want to confirm availability for a specific time of year, it's worth checking directly with the host.
What should I know before visiting South Crescent with my dog?
A couple of things make this house particularly well suited to dogs. There's a ground floor bathroom that lets you rinse off a sandy dog before anyone heads upstairs — a genuinely useful detail after a trip to the bay, which is just half a mile downhill. The porch has a boot rack ready for muddy walks, and the enclosed back garden means dogs can be let out safely at any hour.
