Sunny Banks is a large and spacious holiday home in the tranquil village of St Ishmaels, made for groups who want to spend time together, and one dog is welcome to join them. Its fully enclosed garden of patio and lawn holds a private hot tub, and from there you can watch the sun setting over the fields. That is the mood of this dog friendly house on the Pembrokeshire coast.

You come in at the back, into the kitchen and breakfast room, a generously sized country kitchen with an electric range cooker, a gas hob and a welcome pack waiting. Through it is a separate dining room seating eight for meals and board games, and down the hallway the light, airy lounge is arranged round a cosy wood burner, where the dog will settle after the beach.

On the ground floor sit a double bedroom and a family bathroom with a free standing roll top bath, while the first floor holds three more bedrooms, a zip and link super king among them, beside a shower room. While the children play outside, the adults can take a meal out on the patio or sink into the hot tub, with the dog keeping everyone company on the lawn.

Marloes and Dale are both 3.5 miles away, and Marloes Sands, with its vast expanse of golden sand, is 4.5 miles off for a long walk with the dog. Dale is popular with sailing and water sports fans, Broad Haven and St Brides Bay are nearby, and Milford Haven has a vibrant marina with shops, restaurants and a theatre.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Sunny Banks dog friendly?

Yes, Sunny Banks welcomes one dog. It's a thoughtfully set-up house for it too — you arrive through the back into the kitchen, so your dog is settled before anyone reaches the carpeted rooms, and the garden is fully enclosed with just a gate to check.

  • Are dogs allowed at Sunny Banks year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth getting in touch with the owner directly to confirm availability for your dates. What's clear is that the house is genuinely set up for dogs as part of a family stay, not an afterthought.

  • What should I know before visiting Sunny Banks with my dog?

The booking allows one dog, so if you're travelling with more than one it's worth checking with the owner in advance. The enclosed garden gives your dog somewhere safe to stretch out, and the ground floor bedroom and bathroom mean dogs don't need to navigate the stairs. Marloes Sands, a mile of beach under folded cliffs, is around 3 miles away, with good walking continuing along the coast towards Martin's Haven and Wooltack Point.
