Miles of scenic canal and riverside walks start from the door of Terracotta Cottage, and the one dog this warm, welcoming cottage takes will make the most of them. This dog friendly cottage sleeps four in Brecon, less than a five minute walk from the town centre, with a charming enclosed garden at the back, safe and secure for children and a dog.

Downstairs, a well equipped kitchen with a dining table for four sits alongside a bright, spacious living room with comfortable settees, a Smart TV and a DVD player, the place for the dog to curl up after a day on the canal bank. There is a downstairs cloakroom with a WC, and a welcome pack, books, magazines and family games are ready for the evenings.

Upstairs are two bedrooms, a spacious double with lovely bay windows overlooking the garden and a twin with a box full of toys for the children, along with the family bathroom. Out at the back, the decking has a swinging seat, a barbecue and a garden table for al fresco dining, and below it lies a beautiful secluded lawn with a weeping willow, shrubs and flower beds, where the dog can sniff about while supper sizzles.

The canal bank and basin are 200 metres away, where walks with the dog pass under pretty stone bridges, with houseboats sailing by and plenty of wildlife to see, and some of the Brecon Beacons' loveliest walking and cycling routes start from here too. Brecon has a 1930s style cinema, a theatre at the canal basin and a leisure centre with a pool, there are bikes to use, and Cantref Adventure Farm, 5 miles off, makes a fine family day out.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Terracotta Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Terracotta Cottage welcomes one dog. The enclosed back garden is well suited to a dog in residence — two levels to patrol, a shaded lawn under a weeping willow, and a town on the doorstep with a canal towpath a couple of hundred metres away.

  • Are dogs allowed at Terracotta Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions, so it's best to check directly with the owner when you book to confirm availability for your dates. That's always worth doing when you're travelling with a dog anyway.

  • What should I know before visiting Terracotta Cottage with my dog?

The property accepts one dog, so if you're travelling with more than one it's worth checking with the owner in advance. The garden is enclosed at the back, which is reassuring, and Brecon itself is compact and walkable — the canal basin is just minutes from the door and the towpath heads east under stone bridges for as far as you want to go.
