Stockton, Worcestershire

A Grade II listed cottage for nine at Stockton on Teme in Worcestershire, four bedrooms and four bathrooms, a games room with a pool table, an enclosed garden and three dogs welcome.

Book now

A pool table, an Aga and a sink outside for muddy paws. The Cottage at Stockton on Teme is Grade II listed and a little quirky, and it takes nine people as a dog friendly let, with four bedrooms, four bathrooms and three dogs welcome.

The layout follows the building's history rather than a plan. Downstairs you find the Aga in a kitchen with its own breakfast bar, a living room with a wood burner, a dining room that seats ten, a walk-in shower and the games room with its pool table and dartboard. Outside, in a separate utility, are the washing machine and a sink for boots and paws, so three dogs can be cleaned off before they see the rugs.

The garden at the back is fully enclosed, with a terrace, a patio, several places to sit and a charcoal barbecue, and it has both shade and sun. Three dogs can be put out there while the barbecue is lit and the pool tournament starts inside. Upstairs are two kingsize bedrooms with their own shower rooms, a double, and a room with a double bunk and a single above it, alongside the family bathroom, which makes it a good house for three generations on one booking.

Stanford Bridge, Abberley and Great Witley are the neighbouring villages, set among the hills above the Teme. The Wyre Forest is about a quarter of an hour away, the largest woodland National Nature Reserve in the country, with trails for walking and cycling and a dog wash on site for the end of the day. Shrawley Wood and the Severn at Bewdley are close for more woodland and riverside walks with the dogs.
