The Seashore

Primrose Valley, North Yorkshire

A ground floor apartment for four at Primrose Valley with a private patio and an enclosed rear yard whose gate opens straight onto the clifftops, three dogs welcome.

Book now

There is a gate in the back wall of the yard and it opens onto the clifftops. That is the whole reason to take The Seashore over anything else at Primrose Valley: a ground floor apartment sleeping four, dog friendly with three dogs allowed, and a walk that starts at the end of an enclosed yard instead of at the end of a road.

Everything sits on one level. A hall, then a separate kitchen holding the shower room and a second door out to a private patio, then a lounge with the dining table set at the window over the front garden. The king bedroom looks onto that patio and the other is a bunk room. The rear yard has a picnic bench in it, and three dogs can be turned out there and then let straight through the gate.

Half the party went through that gate an hour ago with all three dogs and has not been seen since. The kitchen door stands open on the patio. Whoever stayed behind is at the dining table doing very little, listening to the gulls over the front garden and waiting for the latch to go, which will be followed within seconds by three sets of sandy feet.

The clifftop path runs both ways from the gate, north towards the point and south along the bay. Filey is a walk or a couple of minutes by road, where the Coble Landing slipway still puts fishing boats onto the beach among the kiosks and the crab pots. Sand runs for miles south of the town and stays quiet. Dogs are allowed on most of it and on the clifftops all year.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is The Seashore dog friendly?

Yes — The Seashore welcomes up to three dogs. It's a ground floor apartment, so there are no stairs to contend with, and the enclosed rear yard means you can let the dogs out safely before heading further afield.

  • Are dogs allowed at The Seashore year round?

Yes, and the location suits year-round visits well. Dogs are welcome on the clifftop paths and on most of the beach south of Filey all year, so you're not restricted to off-season windows the way you might be at other coastal spots.

  • What should I know before visiting The Seashore with my dog?

The rear yard is enclosed and has a gate that opens directly onto the clifftop path, which runs north towards the point and south along the bay — so walks start the moment you step outside. Filey is a short walk or a couple of minutes by road, where sand stretches for miles and stays relatively quiet. Worth noting that the apartment has a patio off the kitchen as well, giving the dogs two outdoor spaces to settle between walks.
