Book now

An enclosed paddock for exercising dogs, at the base of the garden, is the standout at Tom's Cottage. This single storey barn conversion sits on the fringes of the village of Llandenny, surrounded by beautiful hills and woodland, and it is a dog friendly stay for four people and two dogs, 2 miles from Raglan.

It is one of two converted farm barns, with views across the hedgerows into the countryside and underfloor heating throughout, so the dogs are warm underfoot from the moment they come in. The open plan living area has comfortable corner seating to curl up on in the warmth of the wood burner, a Smart TV and DVD player, benches at the dining table for a leisurely supper and a well equipped kitchen. The double and the twin bedrooms each have their own en suite shower and WC.

Outside, an open aspect area with a table, chairs and a fire pit forms part of a large enclosed space, and at the base of the garden the enclosed paddock is there for guests with dogs to use. Evenings end round the fire pit with two dogs happily spent after the paddock, and there is storage for bikes with a bike wash.

Hills and woodland all around mean plenty to explore on foot, and the Wye Valley, the Brecon Beacons and the ancient oak woods of the Forest of Dean are all within reach for longer days with the dogs. Raglan Castle is close by, Usk is 5 miles away with fishing on the River Usk, Tintern Abbey and the Roman remains at Caerleon and Caerwent are a short drive, and Monmouth and Abergavenny hold farmers' markets.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Tom's Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Tom's Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. Beyond being simply allowed inside, the property has been set up with dogs genuinely in mind — there's an enclosed garden with a fire pit area, plus a separate fenced paddock kept specifically for dogs to run in properly rather than just potter around a lawn.

  • Are dogs allowed at Tom's Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so there's nothing to suggest your dogs can't join you whenever you visit. If timing matters to you, it's always worth confirming directly with the owner when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Tom's Cottage with my dog?

The booking allows two dogs, so if you're bringing more than that you'd need to check with the owner first. The fenced paddock is a real practical bonus — after a long drive it gives dogs proper space to stretch out before the evening settles in around the wood burner. Walking from the cottage is good too, with footpaths linking from the lanes so you won't need to move the car, plus a riverside path at Usk about 5 miles away and tracks around Llandegfedd Reservoir to the south.
