The porch takes the coats and boots before a second door opens into the hall. The open plan living space starts with the dining area and a stylish kitchen, with sliding doors through to the utility, and an open arch leads on to the lounge, where a bay window lets in lots of natural light and the wood burner keeps everyone warm. The dogs find their place in front of it while somebody gets competitive over a board game or the SNES console.
On the half landing, one family bathroom offers bath and shower, and a few steps above it is a second, beautifully designed bathroom, where a free standing bath sits alongside a walk in shower, contemporary and luxurious. The super king bedroom has plenty of storage, and the twin and double on the top floor have sloping ceilings and far reaching views. Mornings begin with a tea or coffee out in the yard just off the kitchen, the dogs nosing about while the day is planned.
Down at the shore of Derwentwater there are boats to hire and cruises that hop between the sights, among them Lodore Falls, Catbells and Surprise View. Castlerigg Stone Circle, 2 miles away, has panoramic views high above Keswick and makes a good walk for the dogs, and Theatre by the Lake is within a mile.
