1 / 17Whiskey Cottage
Keswick, Cumbria
A three storey Lakeland cottage for four in the middle of Keswick with a small enclosed sun trap of a yard, a gas fire and fell views from the top floor, two dogs welcome.
Somebody took the top floor of Whiskey Cottage and gave all of it to one bedroom, fell views and en-suite included, leaving the two floors below to everybody else. It is a three storey Lakeland cottage in the middle of Keswick taking two dogs, and the yard behind it is enclosed and catches the sun, which counts for far more in a town cottage than on a fellside. Dog friendly accommodation this central and this private is not easy to come by here.
Downstairs is one open room, sofas and a Smart TV down one end, a gas fire a wet dog will locate in thirty seconds, a compact kitchen off it. The twin and a shower room take the first floor. The stairs above are steep in the way old Lakeland cottages are, so a small dog gets carried and a large one settles the question by refusing to leave the sofa.
Two dogs come back off Latrigg having had enough of being upright. The yard door is propped open, boots are off in the hall, and somebody is filling a bowl at the kitchen tap while the fire gets going. Fitz Park is five minutes over the footbridge, which is where the last turn of the day tends to go, and both dogs work that out long before anyone says it.
Keswick is the reason to be here and all of it is walkable: shops, the theatre, the cinema and somewhere to eat, then the bridge over the River Greta into Fitz Park. Derwentwater and its shoreline path begin a short walk south, and Latrigg, Skiddaw and Catbells rise within a few miles of the market square for a dog that wants a whole day of it.

Is Whiskey Cottage dog friendly?
Yes, Whiskey Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. It's a three storey Lakeland cottage right in the heart of Keswick, with an enclosed yard that catches the sun — a real bonus for a town-centre property — and a gas fire that a wet dog will find in no time.
Are dogs allowed at Whiskey Cottage year round?
The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, so it's worth contacting the owner directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the cottage is well set up for dogs in all weathers, with a warm gas fire and easy access to walks whatever the season.
What should I know before visiting Whiskey Cottage with my dog?
The staircase is steep in the way old Lakeland cottages tend to be, so smaller dogs may need a hand getting to the upper floors — larger ones may simply decide the sofa suits them fine. The enclosed yard is a handy spot to sort boots and gear after a walk, and Fitz Park is just five minutes away over the footbridge for a last stretch of the day.
