Woodside - Sannox

Sannox, Isle of Arran

A family cottage for six at Sannox on Arran in 3 acres of enclosed gardens and woodland with a landing onto its own sandy shore, two dogs welcome.

Book now

Woodside stands in 3 acres of its own gardens and woodland at Sannox, and the grounds end in a landing onto a small sandy beach on the Firth of Clyde. All of it is enclosed, and the two dogs welcome here can range the lot, which makes this family cottage for six about as dog friendly as ground gets on Arran.

The sitting room keeps exposed beams and an open log fire, the country kitchen feeds the family, with dinner outside overlooking the water when the mood takes, and both bathrooms sit on the ground floor. Upstairs is the hideaway: a double, a twin and a single with a pull out bed, each looking into the landscape. The Aga in the kitchen is ornamental, the only thing here that does not work as hard as the dogs.

Days barely need the car. Glen Sannox opens its dramatic horseshoe less than half a mile away, the Corrie golf course and its cafe sit within walking distance, and the beach at the bottom of the garden covers everything else: driftwood, rockpools, two dogs at work on the tideline before breakfast.

Goatfell rises behind the glen for the island's summit day, Brodick and the ferry sit down the coast, and the Sannox to Lochranza shore road is the prettiest drive on Arran. The dogs travel free on the crossing, and they will be first onto the beach.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Woodside - Sannox dog friendly?

Woodside is about as dog friendly as it gets on Arran. The cottage sits in 3 acres of fully enclosed gardens and woodland that lead directly onto a small sandy beach on the Firth of Clyde, so two dogs can roam the whole lot freely without you needing to worry.

  • Are dogs allowed at Woodside - Sannox year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we do know is that dogs travel free on the Arran ferry, and with Glen Sannox on the doorstep and a private beach at the bottom of the garden, any time of year has plenty going for it.

  • What should I know before visiting Woodside - Sannox with my dog?

Up to two dogs are welcome at Woodside, and the entire 3-acre grounds are enclosed, including the landing onto the beach, so they can be off lead from the moment you arrive. Days barely need the car — Glen Sannox is less than half a mile away, Corrie's cafe is walkable, and the tideline is right there at the bottom of the garden for an early morning run before breakfast.
