Y Daflod is a creatively reimagined barn in tranquil North Wales countryside, half a mile from the village of Llannefydd, and it takes two dogs, with the owner happy to discuss a third depending on size. Original timber beams and exposed stonework make it a characterful dog friendly barn for eight, refurbished in 2019 with underfloor heating.

Through the oak beamed porch is a snug, warmed by an electric fire styled as a wood burner, with its own Smart TV. Then comes the kitchen, oak beamed and granite topped, with the dining table at its centre, flowing on into a lounge flooded with natural light. Velvet seating, bi-folding doors to let the outside in and a real wood burner for cosy nights make it the room the dogs will choose, and board games fill the evening.

Downstairs a king size bedroom has a wet room attached, and two doubles with zip and link beds and en suite shower rooms are on the first floor. The master has a king size bed, a private balcony over the countryside and a roll top bath. Outside, the large patio holds seating, the private hot tub, a gas BBQ and an outside shower, and the dogs explore the enclosed garden while the table tennis in the games barn gets competitive.

Llannefydd has its own pretty pub, and the market town of Denbigh has eateries and independent shops. The beach at Abergele is 7 miles away, and the coastal path offers majestic sea views on a long walk with the dogs, with Conwy's cobbled streets, the Great Orme and Bodnant Garden all in reach.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Y Daflod dog friendly?

Yes, Y Daflod welcomes up to two dogs. The garden is fully enclosed all the way round, so your dogs can roam freely outside without you having to worry, and there's an outdoor shower by the door for washing them off after a day in the fields.

  • Are dogs allowed at Y Daflod year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. What the description does make clear is that the setup — enclosed garden, outdoor shower, countryside on the doorstep — works just as well in the quieter months as in summer.

  • What should I know before visiting Y Daflod with my dog?

The property welcomes two dogs and is well set up for them: the garden is enclosed all the way round, there's a private hot tub and games area outside, and an outdoor shower handles whatever your dogs pick up on their walks. The lanes out of Llannefydd are quiet and traffic-free, making them ideal for off-the-beaten-track walks, and nearby St Asaph has a dog-friendly churchyard and riverside path below its 13th century cathedral if you fancy a change of scenery.
