Roe Valley Country Park Circular
County Londonderry
Roe Valley Country Park follows three miles of the River Roe gorge south of Limavady and stitches together a network of well surfaced riverside trails through native woodland, over footbridges and past the ruins of 19th century water powered linen works. Visitor Centre, Dogleap Weir and the Caretaker's Cottage make convenient loop anchors, and it is a firmly dog friendly country park year round.
Dogs are welcome on a lead throughout the park with the river drops, cyclists and occasional livestock on adjoining fields the reasons to keep leads on. Paths are compacted gravel and short tarmac sections, gentle and accessible even after heavy rain. Parking is free at the Visitor Centre with toilets, a cafe and information displays; there is a second car park at Dogleap with picnic tables and water bowls.
