Worthing Beach runs along the seafront of the seaside town of Worthing, a long, gently shelving shingle beach backed by a well-maintained promenade. The beach stretches for several miles in either direction from the town centre pier, and the seafront is a pleasant, walkable strip with independent cafes, seasonal ice cream kiosks and the distinctive Worthing Pavilion. The town has a good range of amenities within easy reach of the seafront, and the promenade is popular with cyclists and runners as well as beach visitors. The shingle is firm and easy to walk on, and at low tide a narrow band of wet sand and shingle is exposed along the lower shore. Views along the coast are open in both directions, with the downs behind providing an occasional backdrop.
Dogs have seasonal restrictions at Worthing Beach under the Worthing Borough Council PSPO. From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are banned from the beach between Splash Point (end of Warwick Road) and Heene Road, a central stretch of roughly one mile. In Goring, dogs are also restricted between the launch ramp at Seafield Avenue and the ramp at Worthing Sailing Club during the same period. Outside these zones, dogs are welcome year-round, and from 1 October to 30 April the entire beach is open to dogs at any time. The promenade itself can be walked with dogs on leads throughout the year. Several dog-friendly cafes and pubs are located close to the seafront.
