A Grade 1 listed 17th century hall in 200 acres of parkland south of Llandudno, where dogs stay in cottage suites with a bed, bowl and organic treats.
Dogs at Bodysgallen Hall stay in its cottage suites, set close to a Grade 1 listed 17th century hall owned by the National Trust. The estate covers over 200 acres of parkland just south of Llandudno, with views of Snowdonia and Conwy Castle, and its gardens hold a rare 17th century parterre of box hedges filled with herbs, a walled rose garden and several follies. Marked footpaths wind through the wooded parkland, and that parkland is the heart of this dog friendly hotel's appeal.
The Hall Cottages cluster around a secluded courtyard, and some are suited to guests with dogs, by prior arrangement and booked by phone. Two small dogs or one large dog can come, and each arrives to a bed, a water bowl, Forthglade organic treats and those all-important little bags. Dogs stay out of the cottage bedroom and off the sofas and armchairs, and the hotel asks for a well behaved dog and respect for other guests. Cottage stays run to three nights at least.
Bodysgallen doesn't say whether a dog may come to dinner with you, so raise it at booking. The fine-dining room holds two AA rosettes and welcomes non-residents too, and Afternoon Tea is served through the afternoon from Monday to Saturday.
The Spa, a short walk from the hotel, has a 50 foot indoor heated pool with spa bath, sauna and steam room. Guide dogs aside, dogs stay out of the main house, the Spa and the formal gardens, keeping to the park and woodland paths instead. Llandudno North Shore is 2.2 miles away, with no dog friendly beach on Wildpack's map any nearer, and Conwy Mountain Circular is 1.5 miles off.
