The Crooklands

Crooklands, Westmorland and Furness

Yes. Dogs can stay in 6 dog friendly rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.

An inn near Kendal with short walks along the Lancaster Canal, six ground floor rooms for dogs, and a bar where dogs are welcome.

The Crooklands began life as a farmhouse in the mid 1700s, and the Inn still has its wooden beamed ceilings, roaring log fire and cosy crannies. Independent and family run, it has been welcoming locals, hikers and overnight guests for over 40 years, and this dog friendly inn gives easy access to both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.

Six ground floor rooms are set aside for dogs and their owners, three classic, two deluxe and one deluxe family room, so contact the inn for availability before you book one. A room takes two dogs at most, and each can have its own goodie bag, dog bed and bowl if you'd like them. Leaving a dog unattended in the room isn't allowed.

Your dog is welcome in the bar area of the Inn, and there are secret nooks where you and your dog can have your own private pub experience. The hotel invites every member of the family to breakfast and dinner in the bar and snug, so check with the inn that your dog can join you at those meals. The menu is British classics done well, proper home cooked food from a head chef who works closely with local suppliers, with Sunday lunch, an afternoon tea that needs booking, and a pint of Crooklands real ale.

The Restaurant, a quieter space for a romantic evening, has a beautiful central skylight. Short walks for you and your dog start from the inn, taking in views across fields and hills and paths that meander along the Lancaster Canal, and the team, who all live locally, will happily share their recommendations. Silverdale Cove, 7 miles away, is the closest beach to the inn that Wildpack lists as dog friendly.
