The street this cottage stands on has been noted as one of the finest examples of a medieval street in Britain, and Anchor Light Cottage's side door opens straight into the cosy lounge. Three dogs come with it, and the garden behind is fully enclosed. It is dog friendly, set within the Abbey conservation area of Faversham, and sleeps six in three bedrooms with three bathrooms.
Inside, a wood burner warms the lounge, and a formal dining room seating six leads on to a light and bright kitchen and diner with a large farmhouse table and two sets of French doors to the garden. A traditional Rayburn keeps the kitchen warm, and the owner names the floor in front of it as the spot for your dog to curl up. Beyond is a library with plenty to read and an open fire. Upstairs are the king, with its own bathroom, and two doubles.
Part of the original 12th century Abbey wall stands in the fully enclosed garden, so the dogs nose about the patio furniture beside a piece of the town's history. Faversham holds a market every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, and one of England's oldest breweries runs tours.
There are plenty of dog walks around the area, and the wildlife rich Oare Marshes are within easy reach when the dogs want a change of scene. Canterbury is not far away, and closer still is Whitstable, famed for its oysters, safe swimming spots and water sports. The beach is 5 miles off.
