Llanrwst, Conwy
Ascella sits high above Llanrwst on a working farm with complete privacy and sweeping views of Eryri's peaks, a hideaway for two and the dog, with Betws-y-Coed a short drive away.
Ascella is a hidden hideaway on a working farm high above Llanrwst, where rolling hills give way to the dramatic peaks of Eryri. Tucked far from the world, it offers complete privacy: just you, wide open skies and endless views, with your favourite person and the dog by your side. This dog friendly retreat is made for slow mornings and long, lingering evenings.
The cabin sits on the top of a bank, fenced on one side, while the bank side is not fenced, so a long line is the way to let the dog sniff about. Livestock are rotated through the farm and cannot reach the area immediately around Ascella, but you may pass them on the 100m walk across the field from the car, so the lead goes on for the way in.
Settle into the sunken bath as the landscape stretches out before you and watch the light shift across the mountains. Indoors, a king size bed, the wood burner, books and board games make for easy evenings, and after a day on the woodland paths the dog will be asleep before the stars are out.
Betws-y-Coed is under ten minutes by car, or a scenic walk, with woodland trails to Swallow Falls, the River Conwy to paddle in and countless paths into Eryri for a dog that loves a long walk. The Ty Gwyn Inn is a 17th century coaching inn with cosy fires, Olif serves modern Welsh tapas, and Blas Ar Fwyd in Llanrwst is the deli for stocking the cabin.

Book with ShacksFrequently Asked Questions
Is Ascella dog friendly?
Yes, Ascella welcomes dogs. It's one of the most secluded dog-friendly cabins in North Wales, sitting high on a working farm above the Conwy valley with plenty of space and fresh air — the kind of place a dog will absolutely love.
Are dogs allowed at Ascella year round?
The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, so it's worth contacting Ascella directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the surrounding landscape — Gwydir Forest, the Conwy valley, and the trails around Betws-y-Coed — makes it a rewarding destination in any season.
What should I know before visiting Ascella with my dog?
There are a couple of things to be aware of. The walk in from the car is around 100 metres across a field, and as livestock are rotated through the farm you may pass them on the way, so your dog will need to be on the lead for the arrival. The cabin itself sits on a bank that is open on one side, so dogs are kept on a long line rather than loose on the deck — something to factor in if you're travelling with a free-spirited or energetic dog.
