Ballinluig Croft is a stone and timber dog friendly house for eight at the northern tip of the Cairngorm National Park, just outside Grantown-on-Spey, with views over open countryside and a welcome for two dogs.
Come in through the bright porch and the house opens into a spacious kitchen, dining and living area with a high ceiling and warm wooden floors, where floor to ceiling windows frame the views and a large corner sofa faces out to them. Folding doors close off the cosy snug, done out in tartan fabrics, where a wood burner and a book make the evening, and the dogs will find it before anyone else does. The ground floor also holds a double bedroom and a king with an en suite, and the first floor has a king and a twin with charming sloping ceilings and a smart family shower room.
Outside, the enclosed garden is a large stretch of lawn running round all sides of the house, with plenty of seating for dining outdoors and the hot tub for later. The house sits in a working farm location, so dogs are to be kept under control at all times, and the garden gives them plenty of lawn to roam.
This is a fine base for hill walkers, cyclists, kayakers and nature lovers, and the dogs will be glad of all of it. Craggan Outdoors has everything from archery to gorge walking, Cawdor Castle and Gardens and the seaside at Nairn are both 23 miles to the north, and whisky lovers can choose from The Glenlivet, Tomintoul and the many distilleries along the River Spey.
