Beekeepers Rest

Seaford, Sussex

A two bedroom cottage for four at Seaford with a terraced garden behind it, a wood burner and two dogs welcome, walking distance from the beach and the pub.

Book now

Seaford keeps its beach at the end of its own streets, and Beekeepers Rest sits a walk from the shingle and takes two dogs. A dog friendly cottage sleeping four, it has the pub the same short distance off as the sea, so a week here needs the car very little. East of the town the chalk begins.

The garden is enclosed and steps up in terraces behind the house, a table on the flat part and a charcoal grill beside it. It is not a lawn to run laps of. It is a set of levels a dog works through methodically, dismisses, then picks one of for the afternoon. Bedroom and bathroom are both downstairs, so the stairs drop out of the week for anything old enough to mind them.

Two couples fit it, or four people and two dogs with nothing booked. The larger bedroom is a zip and link, making a king or a pair of singles depending who ends up in it. The wood burner arrives with a first basket of logs laid ready, and both dogs establish within a day that the sea lies downhill and needs no car.

3 miles east the Cuckmere comes down to the water through the last valley on this coast with no road in it, and the Seven Sisters begin on the far bank and climb in white steps towards Birling Gap. Friston Forest stands behind them for a different sort of afternoon. Seaford Head rises off the end of the promenade, and a dog can be taken up and back before breakfast.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Beekeepers Rest dog friendly?

Yes, Beekeepers Rest welcomes up to two dogs. It's a good fit for two couples travelling with their dogs, and the beach and local pub are both within walking distance, so you won't need to leave your dogs alone in the car much during the week.

  • Are dogs allowed at Beekeepers Rest year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability and any conditions around your dates.

  • What should I know before visiting Beekeepers Rest with my dog?

The enclosed terraced garden is great for letting dogs settle in, though it's more of a tiered space than an open lawn, so it suits dogs who like to explore and find a favourite spot rather than tear around. The bedroom and bathroom are both on the ground floor, which is handy if you're travelling with an older dog who struggles with stairs. Walks are genuinely on the doorstep — Seaford Head is a short stroll from the end of the promenade, and the Cuckmere valley and Seven Sisters are around 3 miles east for longer days out.
