Castlerigg Hall Caravan & Camping Park
Keswick, Cumbria
A dog friendly caravan, camping and glamping park near Keswick looking down to Derwentwater, with a dog exercise area, a warm water dog wash and walks in every direction.
Castlerigg Hall is a quiet, dog friendly caravan, camping and glamping park near Keswick, and its elevated position looks out to the Lake District mountains and down to Derwentwater. All three types of pitch are on hardstanding, many with views of the fells or the lake, and up to two medium sized dogs are welcome on the park, including in some of the hire caravans, camping pods and hex pods. Red squirrels and deer visit, and rare breed animals live on the park, among them two miniature donkeys.
Dogs stay on a short lead on the park except in the dog exercise area, where supervised dogs can come off the lead to explore and let off steam, and a warm water dog wash sees off muddy paws after a day on the fells. A 30 minute walk through woodland and down to the lakeside leads into Keswick, 2 miles away and known as one of Britain's most dog friendly towns, and the Walla Crag walk passes the gallery cafe.

Is Castlerigg Hall Caravan & Camping Park dog friendly?
Castlerigg Hall is very dog friendly, earning a 9/10 rating on Wildpack Collective. The site goes beyond simply allowing dogs — it has dedicated dog showers, waste stations and designated walking areas, making it a genuinely practical base for owners. The surrounding area is excellent too, with Derwentwater shoreline walks and the dog friendly town of Keswick both close by.
Are dogs allowed at Castlerigg Hall Caravan & Camping Park year round?
We don't currently have specific information about seasonal restrictions at Castlerigg Hall, so it's worth checking directly with the park before booking. Many campsites in the Lake District do operate year round or for an extended season, but availability and conditions can vary.
What should I know before visiting Castlerigg Hall Caravan & Camping Park with my dog?
The site has dedicated dog showers, waste stations and designated walking areas, so the practical side of travelling with a dog is well catered for. Hardstanding tourer pitches come with parking next to the pitch, which makes unloading with a dog in tow much easier. It's also worth knowing that Keswick is just a short trip away, with several pubs and cafes — including The Dog and Gun and Java Coffee — welcoming dogs inside.
