Felt Barn is a wonderfully converted former hay barn at Grindon, set in rolling hills just inside the southern boundary of the Peak District National Park, with glorious scenery on the doorstep. Ten guests share five bedrooms, and two dogs are very welcome, which makes this dog friendly barn an ideal home for a large family or a group of friends.
Muddy paws are dealt with before anyone comes in, thanks to the outdoor dog shower. The large entrance is the place to shed outdoor wear after a long day in the hills, and it leads straight into the well equipped kitchen/diner, where a large table gathers everyone for a celebration or simply a long supper with the dogs settled nearby. The dining area has its own Smart TV, and a utility area under the stairs and a separate WC complete the ground floor.
Upstairs, the sitting room combines character and style with a log burner and Bluetooth speakers, and the five bedrooms lie down the hallway from it, three of them with an en suite shower room. Please note that dogs are not allowed upstairs. To the front, the enclosed private garden and patio have a table, chairs and a BBQ, with amazing views of the hills, and the dogs can sniff the breeze while dinner cooks.
Pretty walks and cycle rides start right from the door, around the Roaches and through the Manifold Valley, and Thor's Cave and the Manifold Trail are nearby. The market town of Ashbourne is 8 miles away, Bakewell and Buxton a little further, and Rudyard Lake, Tittesworth Reservoir and Carsington Water bring the water into a week with the dogs.
