Forget Me Not Cottage was built in 2021 to an immaculate standard, and it looks over open countryside from the village of Marston Montgomery, on the outskirts of the Peak District National Park. Five people and two dogs share this five star, dog friendly cottage, which has an enclosed, south facing garden at the rear.
Coats go up in the hallway, and from there an open plan living space of lounge, kitchen and dining area opens onto the garden through patio doors with countryside views beyond them. Dogs are very welcome on the ground floor, though not upstairs, and owners of two large breeds are asked to enquire before booking. Up the stairs are three bright, airy bedrooms, and the king size has an en suite.
The enclosed garden carries a patio with ample seating, and a hot tub can be hired for the stay to take in the views over the fields. Darts and table football wait in the games room, available on request. First thing, the dogs pad out through the patio doors while the Nespresso machine does its work. There is livestock in the adjacent fields, which every dog owner will want to know.
Many quiet footpaths lie within walking distance of the cottage, out into the rolling countryside around the village, and the dogs can have a different one every morning. Ashbourne is within 8 miles, a market town of cobbled alleys and a haven for antique hunters, and Sudbury Hall with its Museum of Childhood is within 5 miles. Carsington Water is there for a bigger outing.
