A three bedroom cottage for six at Pinmore near Girvan in the South Ayrshire hills, all on one level, with an enclosed rear garden, a wood burner and two dogs welcome.

Book now

Pinmore is a scattering of houses in the hills behind Girvan, and LilyBank Cottage looks out from it across open, rolling country. Six people sleep in this dog friendly cottage, all of it on one level, with two dogs welcome and a welcome pack and extras for them on arrival.

The living and dining room is the centre of the house, with big windows full of hills and a wood burner, first fuel provided, for the evenings. Everything else is on the same floor: a king size bedroom, a double, a twin and a walk-in shower room, with a kitchen fitted for feeding six. There are five steps up to the front door, and a ramp at the back for anyone, dog or human, who would rather not.

The garden at the rear is enclosed, with seating, and the dogs go out there first thing and last thing. It suits a family or two couples who want a quiet base and a lot of country: long days out, back to the fire, and the dogs stretched across the floor while the light goes off the hills.

The walking starts close by. Around Barr there are trails through old woodland and along rivers onto the moor, and the sea is a short drive west, with beaches at Lendalfoot and Ballantrae for the dogs. From Girvan's harbour, boats run out to Ailsa Craig, and Culzean Castle and its country park sit further up the coast.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is LilyBank Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, LilyBank Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. There's a welcome pack and extras waiting for them on arrival, and the enclosed rear garden means they can be let out safely first thing and last thing without any fuss.

  • Are dogs allowed at LilyBank Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. Given the cottage's setup — wood burner, enclosed garden and easy access to walks — it seems well suited to year-round dog-friendly stays.

  • What should I know before visiting LilyBank Cottage with my dog?

The cottage takes a maximum of two dogs, and there are five steps up to the front door — though a ramp at the back means dogs (and humans) who'd rather skip the steps can come and go that way instead. The rear garden is enclosed, which is handy for letting dogs out, and the surrounding area offers plenty of walking, from woodland and river trails around Barr to dog-friendly beaches at Lendalfoot and Ballantrae a short drive away.
