Turnberry Beach
South Ayrshire
Turnberry Beach is a wide sandy beach beside the world-famous Turnberry golf resort on the Ayrshire coast, scene of several Open Championships including Nicklaus versus Watson's famous 1977 Duel in the Sun. The beach looks directly out to Ailsa Craig, which dominates the view from here, and across to the Mull of Kintyre and Northern Ireland on the clearest days. The historic Turnberry Lighthouse sits on the headland, and the ruins of the castle where Robert the Bruce is reputedly born lie nearby.
No dog restrictions apply at Turnberry Beach. Year-round dog access. The beach is wide and open with good off-lead potential. Limited public parking near the lighthouse.
