Book now

Ailsa Craig sits out in the Firth of Clyde, with the hills of Arran behind it, and Seal Rocks looks straight at both from every window. This is a dog friendly home for four at Lendalfoot, on the quiet stretch of Ayrshire coast south of Girvan, with two dogs welcome and the beach 150 yards away.

There are two gardens, and they do different jobs. The front one is a lawn facing the sea, with seats and a barbecue, and it is not enclosed, so it is for people with dogs on leads. The rear garden is the enclosed one, with its own table and chairs, and that is where the dogs can go out on their own.

Indoors, the ground floor is one big open plan room of living area, dining table and kitchen with a breakfast bar, with the wood burner at one end and the sea filling the windows. A kingsize bedroom and a walk-in shower room are on the same floor, useful for anyone who would rather avoid the stairs, and upstairs is a large bedroom with a super kingsize, a second kingsize for children and its own shower room. Evenings are for the sunset over the water, and a dog asleep by the burner while it happens.

The Ayrshire Coastal Path runs along the shore, and Ballantrae's beach is a short drive south. Girvan is ten minutes north, with boat trips out to Ailsa Craig to see its nesting seabirds, and the clifftop castle at Culzean and the ruins at Turnberry and Dunure make days out with the dogs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Seal Rocks dog friendly?

Yes, Seal Rocks welcomes up to two dogs. The property has an enclosed rear garden where dogs can roam freely, plus a front lawn facing the sea for outdoor time on the lead, and the beach is just 150 yards away.

  • Are dogs allowed at Seal Rocks year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's best to check directly with the owner when booking to confirm availability for your dates. Given the wood burner and cosy setup, it feels well suited to a visit in any season.

  • What should I know before visiting Seal Rocks with my dog?

The maximum is two dogs, so it's not the right fit for larger groups of pets. It's worth knowing that the front garden is not enclosed, so dogs will need to be on a lead there, while the rear garden is the secure space where they can be let out independently. The beach is a short walk away, and the Ayrshire Coastal Path runs along the shore, giving you plenty of options for a good stretch of the legs.
